Acoustic string instrument collection dating 1759-1900’s

The unique collection of plucked instruments was gathered in about thirty years from all over Europe . The first era of the Romantic guitar ( Fabricatore, Stauffer, Lacote and Panormo) are all in this important collection and were the main focus, but then the mandolin in all its forms and all kinds of other historic instruments found their way into the collection also. There are Lyra-mandolins from Calace, a very nice and historic important 12-course Vinaccia mandolin (1781), a Baroque guitar from Aubert a Troyes (around 1760) and many, many others. Now the number of instruments in the collection is 336, most of them ready to be played. In the past 4-5 years the collection was meant to become the content of a Plucked Instrument Museum in The Netherlands, but bureaucracy killed that idea!

The owner sincerely hopes that the collection will stay together in the future and that the love for the guitar and mandolin and its history will live forever in these instruments

We are very proud to offer for sale this combined collection of Mandolin (family) instruments and Guitar (family) instruments. The collection holds some 336 European made instruments dated aprox. between 1760 and 1960. This instrument collection holds some 120 mandolins (& family) and 320 guitars (& family) It should be  considered one of the most important European collection of instruments. The collection holds names like Fabricatore, Vinaccia, Lacote, Stauffer, Plesbler, Filano, Thibouville,  Emberger, Panormo, Hauser but also Torres by Ramirez, Bernabe and many other famous and less famous makers. 

This unusual collection will be sold in one piece. The owner collected these instruments over a period of some 30 years.  We will all agree that a collection like this is rare the least if not unique very likely, but for sure an impossible effort to grow a Collection like this, these days.
